Magnetic Fields - Collaborative Project
Magnetic Fields stands for the attraction between the disciplines involved in our collaborative process and the pulse it brings to give life to a project which we hope will take multiple directions.
Our aim is to create short films or vignettes in locations seen as uninviting or brutal either by the nature of their structure or their past history.
In each location, we intend to collate our short films to form a real or imaginary promenade. The promenade will be an invitation for any member of the community to retrace our steps and be inspired to create their own journey in the context of workshops, installation or performance.
The philosophy behind this project is largely drawn from the teachings of Anna Halprin, a pioneer of post modern dance, and her life partner, architect and landscape designer, Lawrence Halprin.
Our creative process is inspired by the RSVP cycle they developed: Resources, Score, Valuaction, Performance.
We’ve allowed ourselves to navigate our path between improvisation, performance, research, feedback and evaluation.
The heritage site of Cockatoo Island has given us a magnificent terrain for our first experiments.
